ABBY McELROY

EMPOWERED STUDENT. EMPOWERED WOMAN. EMPOWERED ACTIVIST.
ABBY MCELROY
The Future is Female

Abby McElroy is a senior at Strath Haven High School in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. She is passionate about women's rights. When Amnion Pregnancy Center presented a biased abstinence-only program in her sophomore year health classes, Abby took a stand and spoke up at her local school board. Amnion has since been banned from Strath Haven, and she is seeking to influence the same change in other area high schools. Outside of activism, Abby spends her time singing and playing French horn.

Abby McElroy, the 17 year-old who told school officials about the class, said she's already working to bring her protest to other Philadelphia-area schools."I want to pursue this because I think every student has the right to fact-based, comprehensive sex education," McElroy said in an email.
